We began the show this week with
two tracks from Eric Burdon & the Animals 1967
album ‘Winds of Change’ and finished it with
one from the new album by Australia’s Cloud Control,
and so it was for the music we played in-between – the old and the new, here
and overseas, soft and loud, fast blasts and slow drones – all the regular
ingredients you’ve come to expect in the sounds of Technicolour
Dreaming. From the b-side of Temples’
debut single to the Sons of Adam’s Arthur Lee-penned
1966 single a-side via Sula Bassana, Scott Walker, the
Millennium and ex-Smallgoods songwriter
Ben Mason’s latest psych-pop masterpiece and
through to Beaulieu Porch, Mikal Cronin and the new Mynd
Gardeners vinyl release, it was a varied journey through psychedelic
realms and related states, which included a tribute to long-time Devo drummer Alan
Myers who passed away recently, a1966 VOX radio
ad, a track from the Gang of Four’s 1980 debut LP, a very electric version of a
Serge Gainsbourg classic by Deep Sea Arcade and a strange 1970 b-side by Janie Jones, the London ‘identity’ immortalised by
the Clash on their debut LP. So, business as
usual here on 3D Radio with the Cat & the Brat.....
