This
week’s edition was bookended with tracks by Welsh band Soft
Hearted Scientists, who have rapidly wormed their way into our “fave band list”
since we discovered their 2013 album “False Lights” and then began working our way
through their back-catalogue. Then there were our “just-arrived-in-the-mail”
features, the first of which, “The Drop” LP
by Denmark’s Pinkunoizu, came in a very cool
gatefold sleeve and has barely been off the turntable all week. Though it was
released late last year and has taken us a while to get our own copy, we found
it to be a brilliant slice of modern psychedelia and well worth the wait –
thoroughly recommended! The other new arrival was the debut album from Doug Tuttle, formerly of Cat
& Brat faves, MMOSS, whose two
albums have frequently reverberated around our house over the past year or so.
Now recording under his own name this album finds him further refining his
idiosyncratic take on psychedelic music, with a textured 60’s pop feel more
evident than in the past. Catchy yet woozy with lots of his trademark reverb
and effects, it, like the afore-mentioned Pinkunoizu,
keeps insinuating itself into your mind more with each hearing –we’ll
definitely be playing more tracks from both albums for you in coming weeks! Also
featured were tracks from the Citradels, Slingshot Dragster and Bronco
Bullfrog, new mp3s from both the Red Plastic
Buddha and the Luck of Eden Hall plus
cuts from Schnauser, Dark Ocean Colors, the High Learys and
many more.....
