Three D Radio announcer, Megan Cat (up until recently with her husband, the late Peter Brat) lives in "The BratHaus" a rural seaside home about 100km from Adelaide on South Australia's scenic Fleurieu Peninsula.
Veteran musician Peter, and artist/musician Megan, were long-time DJs on Three D Radio 93.7fm
, Adelaide's eclectic independent music station.
Together Peter & Megan, known as "The Cat and The Brat" created this blog to allow listeners to review the playlists of their radio show, "Technicolour Dreaming" , watch clips of selected songs and simply join them in the enjoyment of their favourite music... psychedelia, 60's garage,
surf, punk/post-punk, pop, folk-rock, glam, 'Krautrock', goth, 80's electro... and much more!
But The Cat is carrying on the tradition, with guest co-presenters, and "Technicolour Dreaming" will continue in the same format, drawing from the huge "Cat & Brat" music collection, with the addition of new releases and reissues to keep things current. The Brat is hugely missed, but the show must go on, as he wanted...

Technicolour Dreaming

The show this week had another guest presenter in the form of Michael Hunter - no stranger to the timeslot in the Obscured By… days but for one week only, back doing the show on his own.  Actually that’s not quite true, as he was joined on the phone for an interesting chat with Bobby Bright, on the nearly-50 year anniversary of the first Bobby & Laurie single, and on the recent release of Bob’s own new EP “Child Of Rock & Roll” (available on iTunes or his own website).  The news that Led Zeppelin were being sued by the band Spirit for alleged pilfering of a musical phrase on “Stairway To Heaven” led to a few related pieces, including Frank Zappa’s take on the iconic song.  A few unreleased gems by Australian musical heavyweights such as Wendy Saddington and the Wild Cherries also found their way to air, as did some 60s European pop delights - the glam rock band Blue Vamp featuring a pre-Oxygene Jean Michel Jarre!  And so a jolly good time was had by all, and normal service will resume soon.....
