Three D Radio announcer, Megan Cat (up until recently with her husband, the late Peter Brat) lives in "The BratHaus" a rural seaside home about 100km from Adelaide on South Australia's scenic Fleurieu Peninsula.
Veteran musician Peter, and artist/musician Megan, were long-time DJs on Three D Radio 93.7fm
, Adelaide's eclectic independent music station.
Together Peter & Megan, known as "The Cat and The Brat" created this blog to allow listeners to review the playlists of their radio show, "Technicolour Dreaming" , watch clips of selected songs and simply join them in the enjoyment of their favourite music... psychedelia, 60's garage,
surf, punk/post-punk, pop, folk-rock, glam, 'Krautrock', goth, 80's electro... and much more!
But The Cat is carrying on the tradition, with guest co-presenters, and "Technicolour Dreaming" will continue in the same format, drawing from the huge "Cat & Brat" music collection, with the addition of new releases and reissues to keep things current. The Brat is hugely missed, but the show must go on, as he wanted...

Technicolour Dreaming

I don’t know whether I was thinking on a subconscious level about Australia’s change of Prime Minister the previous evening, when making musical selections for the show, but the tracks by Scott Walker, The Lovetones, Jason Crest and Halasan Bazar & Tara King th. all seemed to fit the feel of the moment! I played a couple of recent Adelaide releases - Black Coral, whose EP, “The Big Nothing” came out in August, and the very new, very exclusive “Ya Dig?” EP by Snobby Oxalis; plus a good assortment of Melbourne bands featured also - Murlocs, Witch Hats, and the inimitable King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.  A great melody has always been a Technicolour Dreaming favourite, with tracks from The Left Banke, The Turtles, The Monkees  and The Story UK and Quilt all fitting the bill nicely, and proving that there are still bands today carrying on the tradition. Speaking of The Turtles, I’ve included a clip from the trailer of “Guide for the Married Man”, their second foray into the land of movie music, the first being a track for the 1966 movie “Out of Sight” a spoof of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." - look it up, it’s so bad it’s good!

…so here’s the playlist for the show, with (a hell of a lot of) associated visuals…
