Burt Ward (60s TV's Robin) sang a song about himself, written by Frank Zappa. A creative soundscape based on crank phone calls was provided by Brendon Locher. Mexican bands performed covers of well known hits in their own language. Penetration covered Patti Smith while Tin Huey did a Monkees song. The last line-up of Esperanto creatively arranged Eleanor Rigby, and The "A" Sound had a very young Doug Parkinson's first appearance on record. Mother Goose were just odd. Psychedelia abounded. Sitars, theremin and mellotron, backwards guitar, phasing and fuzz, fringes and mohawks, paisley, black, velvet and leather, feedback, bass and drone, beads, berets and safety-pins, Shindig! and Creem, 3 chord wonders, teenage symphonies and snarl, Rickenbacker, Farfisa and 4-track recorders... onstage at CBGB's, Max's Kansas City or the Trip, the Roundhouse, the 100 Club or the Crystal Ballroom, Catcher's, Big Daddy's or the Squatters Arms.... and the Cat and the Brat on 3D Radio!
Three D Radio announcer, Megan Cat (up until recently with her husband, the late Peter Brat) lives in "The BratHaus" a rural seaside home about 100km from Adelaide on South Australia's scenic Fleurieu Peninsula.
Veteran musician Peter, and artist/musician Megan, were long-time DJs on Three D Radio 93.7fm, Adelaide's eclectic independent music station.
Together Peter & Megan, known as "The Cat and The Brat" created this blog to allow listeners to review the playlists of their radio show, "Technicolour Dreaming" , watch clips of selected songs and simply join them in the enjoyment of their favourite music... psychedelia, 60's garage, surf, punk/post-punk, pop, folk-rock, glam, 'Krautrock', goth, 80's electro... and much more!

But The Cat is carrying on the tradition, with guest co-presenters, and "Technicolour Dreaming" will continue in the same format, drawing from the huge "Cat & Brat" music collection, with the addition of new releases and reissues to keep things current. Obscured By...
Again there were 3 DOTS to curate the show, which began as always with a
selection of Australian-related songs, paying tribute to Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees
and Mal McGhee
of the Wild Cherries,
Python Lee
Jackson et al, who both passed away this week. There was also a
selection of Adelaide rarities, including tracks by 80’s bands Toyland and
the Iguana Twins,
both featuring Annalisa
Vague-Hope on vocals, a single from Adelaide footballer Graham Cornes
[co-written by the
Mixtures’
Evan Jones],
plus a track from the Esperanto Rock Orchestra LP of 1973. Add to
that a strange group of cover versions by artists with provenance unknown [except
perhaps country of origin], finish with Nico and some very cool French 60’s pop [including
a favourite from Brigitte
Bardot] and you have another edition of what we like to refer to as
“Obscured by...”!
