Three D Radio announcer, Megan Cat (up until recently with her husband, the late Peter Brat) lives in "The BratHaus" a rural seaside home about 100km from Adelaide on South Australia's scenic Fleurieu Peninsula.
Veteran musician Peter, and artist/musician Megan, were long-time DJs on Three D Radio 93.7fm
, Adelaide's eclectic independent music station.
Together Peter & Megan, known as "The Cat and The Brat" created this blog to allow listeners to review the playlists of their radio show, "Technicolour Dreaming" , watch clips of selected songs and simply join them in the enjoyment of their favourite music... psychedelia, 60's garage,
surf, punk/post-punk, pop, folk-rock, glam, 'Krautrock', goth, 80's electro... and much more!
But The Cat is carrying on the tradition, with guest co-presenters, and "Technicolour Dreaming" will continue in the same format, drawing from the huge "Cat & Brat" music collection, with the addition of new releases and reissues to keep things current. The Brat is hugely missed, but the show must go on, as he wanted...

Technicolour Dreaming

The phones were ringing, subscribers knocking on the doors, volunteers filling out forms & taking details and payments.... yes, it was our annual Radiothon week at 3D Radio! The Cat & the Brat were busy playing a bunch of faves plus tracks from ‘giveaway’ albums, chatting to local musicians such as Brenton Manser, who brought in his latest album, and even managing to squeeze in a ‘live-in-the-studio’ interview with up-and-coming local band the Byzantines, who are releasing their debut EP this week. Whew! So we’d like to thank all those people who subscribed to help keep this great totally volunteer-run radio station continue to be independent and on-air – and you can still subscribe anytime... just go to the 3D Radio website and follow the prompts, and don’t forget that each subscriber receives a copy of the latest edition of DepthCharge, our annual CD compilation of Adelaide bands.

Technicolour Dreaming

Beginning with a psychedelic Rolling Stones gem, the Cat & the Brat juggled genres, eras and geography for your listening pleasure. But minutes into the show, we were pleasantly interrupted (twice!) by a knock at the door of Three D Radio, with members of Adelaide bands bearing their brand new releases. Not long after, hot-off-the-press tracks from Brenton Manser and the Readymades were unleashed on the airwaves – ‘seat of the pants radio’ in action!! You too can have your songs aired on Three D – send us a copy, and if we like it, we’ll play it! – regardless, it’ll go into the ‘new releases’ section of the 3D Library for other announcers to discover! But we digress – your hosts proceeded on their merry way with gems from Baker Knight and the Knightmares, Major Tom and the Atoms, the Buzzcocks, and the Great Apes, to name but a few. A highlight was the Jigsaw Seen’s version of ‘Circle of Steel’, featuring Dave Davies on backing vox, so naturally we had to follow this with a rare Davies track from his new “Hidden Treasures” anthology.  And being the first day of August, it was time to finish the show with a new “Artiste of the Month”, with Adelaide’s late, great Baterz winning the spot for the next 4 weeks.....
