Three D Radio announcer, Megan Cat (up until recently with her husband, the late Peter Brat) lives in "The BratHaus" a rural seaside home about 100km from Adelaide on South Australia's scenic Fleurieu Peninsula.
Veteran musician Peter, and artist/musician Megan, were long-time DJs on Three D Radio 93.7fm
, Adelaide's eclectic independent music station.
Together Peter & Megan, known as "The Cat and The Brat" created this blog to allow listeners to review the playlists of their radio show, "Technicolour Dreaming" , watch clips of selected songs and simply join them in the enjoyment of their favourite music... psychedelia, 60's garage,
surf, punk/post-punk, pop, folk-rock, glam, 'Krautrock', goth, 80's electro... and much more!
But The Cat is carrying on the tradition, with guest co-presenters, and "Technicolour Dreaming" will continue in the same format, drawing from the huge "Cat & Brat" music collection, with the addition of new releases and reissues to keep things current. The Brat is hugely missed, but the show must go on, as he wanted...

Technicolour Dreaming

From amongst all the new releases recently joining the 3D Library, there were quite a few that we wanted to bring to you, but they wouldn’t all fit in a month of shows, let alone one ... so we selected a few to highlight, amongst them a song from the latest Mynd Gardeners EP, a pre-release track from the new Dandy Warhols album plus another from the new one by Spiritualized. We also played a song from the brand new Molting Vultures record which was produced with Vic Conrad [Garden Path, Dust Collection etc] in conjunction with Matt Hills and the band. From the archives we played a number of Australian singles from the likes of the Hoodoo Gurus, Super K and the Primevils plus some gems from legends such as the Sonics and the Rolling Stones, before finishing with the final showing from our current “Band of the Month”, the Zoot.... so who will it be next month?

We featured an Eno track from his brilliant 1973 debut LP, a fave from Norway’s Deleted Waveform Gatherings, a very cool track from the debut EP by new Adelaide band Fabels and a great version of ‘Holocaust’ by This Mortal Coil featuring Howard Devoto, as well as some Black Hollies, the debut single by French punks Metal Urbain and even a spot of ‘guru-bashing’ from the Beatles, before finishing with Thee Oh Sees, our January “Band of the Month”... all brought to you by the Cat and the Brat on 3D Radio...

Technicolour Dreaming

Bryan was the show’s host this week and he certainly found some very cool sounds to play, including a song from the debut EP by a great new Adelaide band Horror My Friend, a live recording from 3D Radio’s ‘Sound Lounge’ show by the Aves and, from the 1990s, a Lou Reed track plus one by local punks the Crazies. There were a bunch of 60’s treats from the likes of the Electric Prunes and the Atlantics,  the debut single by the Zoot and plus one from the Sonics, whose gig here this year is eagerly awaited... we’ll keep you updated on that one! He also featured the surf sounds of the Beach Chromers and Cosmic Bikini as well as a few punk classics from, amongst others, the Adverts, Patti Smith and Wire... he also played a track from new Melbourne band Wolfy and the Batcubs, whose recent show here rocked! And of course, he finished with another band whose gig here has also been eagerly awaited, Thee Oh Sees, our current “Band of the Month”... all of this and more on Technicolour Dreaming! Thanx Bryan!
