Obscurities from many lands, including Indonesia, Turkey and Russia. Impossibly rare Australian punk and power pop singles from the late 70s & early 80s. Well known bands with little known songs. Pre-fame Phil Collins, Debbie Harry and Neil Young. A "just verging on the right side of tacky" trip to the various "R" sections of the Three D library. All this and more in one convenient 2 hour package, known as Obscured By..., this week hosted by Michael Hunter.

Three D Radio announcer, Megan Cat (up until recently with her husband, the late Peter Brat) lives in "The BratHaus" a rural seaside home about 100km from Adelaide on South Australia's scenic Fleurieu Peninsula.
Veteran musician Peter, and artist/musician Megan, were long-time DJs on Three D Radio 93.7fm, Adelaide's eclectic independent music station.
Together Peter & Megan, known as "The Cat and The Brat" created this blog to allow listeners to review the playlists of their radio show, "Technicolour Dreaming" , watch clips of selected songs and simply join them in the enjoyment of their favourite music... psychedelia, 60's garage, surf, punk/post-punk, pop, folk-rock, glam, 'Krautrock', goth, 80's electro... and much more!

The Brat is hugely missed, but the show must go on, as he wanted...

Obscured By... Sept 6 2011
A busy show indeed for a solo Michael Hunter - first, an interview with Iva Davies concerning the reformed Icehouse and their successful reissued music to start the show. Then some more rare Turkish psych/folk, and a rummage around the hidden recesses of the 3D record library for our featured letter for the week, S. Plus the usual Australian rock rarities, including some more live 5 Sided Circle, recorded only a couple of weeks ago. Then, entirely unexpectedly, Mike Rudd from Spectrum called in having been alerted via Facebook that their new EP would be featured, so of course, we had a welcome live phone interview with him too! Plus a couple of listeners came in to renew their subscription during the show as well. Phew...

Technicolour Dreaming
On this last day of winter, the Cat & the Brat
played an all-Australian show, with the exception
of four of our favourite ‘overseas’ bands, which of course meant playing some Velvet Underground... how could we not! The bulk
of the show though, featured current bands such as Adelaide’s own Like Leaves and
brillig, Melbourne’s exciting Frowning Clouds and Sydney’s Black Cab, then travelled back to the 80’s, including 2 bands
with new ‘best of’/rarities albums, the Lighthouse
Keepers and the Ups and Downs, plus
a few singles from the likes of the Church
and Lizard Train. And we bade farewell to the Sand
Pebbles in their final spin as ‘Album of the Month’......
