Sitars, theremin and mellotron, backwards guitar, phasing and fuzz, fringes and mohawks, paisley, black, velvet and leather, feedback, bass and drone, beads, berets and safety-pins, Shindig! and Creem, 3 chord wonders, teenage symphonies and snarl, Rickenbacker, Farfisa and 4-track recorders... onstage at CBGB's, Max's Kansas City or the Trip, the Roundhouse, the 100 Club or the Crystal Ballroom, Catcher's, Big Daddy's or the Squatters Arms.... and the Cat and the Brat on 3D Radio!
Three D Radio announcer, Megan Cat (up until recently with her husband, the late Peter Brat) lives in "The BratHaus" a rural seaside home about 100km from Adelaide on South Australia's scenic Fleurieu Peninsula.
Veteran musician Peter, and artist/musician Megan, were long-time DJs on Three D Radio 93.7fm, Adelaide's eclectic independent music station.
Together Peter & Megan, known as "The Cat and The Brat" created this blog to allow listeners to review the playlists of their radio show, "Technicolour Dreaming" , watch clips of selected songs and simply join them in the enjoyment of their favourite music... psychedelia, 60's garage, surf, punk/post-punk, pop, folk-rock, glam, 'Krautrock', goth, 80's electro... and much more!

But The Cat is carrying on the tradition, with guest co-presenters, and "Technicolour Dreaming" will continue in the same format, drawing from the huge "Cat & Brat" music collection, with the addition of new releases and reissues to keep things current. The Brat is hugely missed, but the show must go on, as he wanted...

Technicolour Dreaming
A bleary-eyed Cat got up at the crack of dawn in the freezing cold (no heating) to finish off programming Technicolour Dreaming - luckily the computer was fully charged - got ready for the bus trip into Adelaide (no hot coffee, so brain totally fogged), dreading the walk down the road, and having visions of umbrellas blowing inside out, tumbling along.

Technicolour Dreaming
Sometimes this blog comes together so easily, other times it is exceptionally testing. This is one of those testing times! So I might just let the tunes from last week (and the clips that have managed to work) speak for themselves, so I don't delay posting this any longer....next weeks Technicolour Dreaming will feature some pre-release goodies from Kind Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Luck of Eden Hall, Kikagaku Moyo and Elephant Stone, so tune in on Tuesday at 2pm (Australian Central Standard Time) on Thee D Radio 93.7fm, or listen to the live stream at www.threedradio.com. You know you want to!

Technicolour Dreaming
A few notable new releases played on Technicolour Dreaming this week included The Honey Pot's latest, "Inside The Whale", which has a real West-Coast 60's psych feel to it, out now on MegaDodo Records; and The Murlocs new one "Young Blindness" - and if you were planning to buy the coloured vinyl, it's too late!! Melbourne bands were well represented on the show, making up 6 of the selections, plus the usual French oddities, some Canadian coolness, as well as tracks from Germany, Norway, Russia and The Ukraine - there's so much fantastic music out there, both old and new, the world over. Just 2 hours a week is never enough!
Here's the playlist, plus visuals.....
