Three D Radio announcer, Megan Cat (up until recently with her husband, the late Peter Brat) lives in "The BratHaus" a rural seaside home about 100km from Adelaide on South Australia's scenic Fleurieu Peninsula.
Veteran musician Peter, and artist/musician Megan, were long-time DJs on Three D Radio 93.7fm
, Adelaide's eclectic independent music station.
Together Peter & Megan, known as "The Cat and The Brat" created this blog to allow listeners to review the playlists of their radio show, "Technicolour Dreaming" , watch clips of selected songs and simply join them in the enjoyment of their favourite music... psychedelia, 60's garage,
surf, punk/post-punk, pop, folk-rock, glam, 'Krautrock', goth, 80's electro... and much more!
But The Cat is carrying on the tradition, with guest co-presenters, and "Technicolour Dreaming" will continue in the same format, drawing from the huge "Cat & Brat" music collection, with the addition of new releases and reissues to keep things current. The Brat is hugely missed, but the show must go on, as he wanted...

Technicolour Dreaming

We began with a track by the Green Telescope from the latest “Friends of the Fish” compilation put out by the wonderful Fruits de Mer label.  From thereon in, it was a mixture of new & old with familiars & obscurities of various genres loosely associated with psychedelia from all over the world... in short, the usual style of Technicolour Dreaming, with this week’s featured compilation being the Psychedelic Underground Generation series of samplers, commonly called P.U.G. and put out by a bunch of friends and musicians in Belgium sharing their latest discoveries from the huge number of new releases currently on offer. The samplers are free but you are asked to investigate the bands featured further and perhaps buy direct from those that particularly catch your fancy... most are on bandcamp so they are easily accessible. So, until next week, this is the Cat & the Brat signing off .....

Technicolour Dreaming

It was a bit of an unusual show this week, with the Cat only present for the first hour and the Brat flying solo on the remainder - it's tricky living in the country and coming in each week, but when one of us needs to stay in town for 'medical experiments' [heh heh!] it gets downright complicated due to the single bus home which leaves from the city... and so on and so forth. Suffice to say, we managed to negotiate all the trials and tribulations. The Cat returned to the Cape and the Brat was successfully delivered into his world of pain in the hospital - said illness also being the reason for the lateness & briefness of this spiel. So here is the intro......   Our Band of the Week was the inimitable Roxy Music, a band who should need no introduction though sadly, probably do – unfortunately most people remember the “Avalon” period – so take a look at their film-clips (and it was film in those days!) for a reminder of this innovative group at their peak. Fittingly, early Roxy stalwart, Brian Eno, rounded off the show this week with a track from his debut solo album “Here Come The Warm Jets” replete with a suitably strange clip from 1976, posted a few years back....
