Technicolour Dreaming

It's the first day of summer here in Adelaide, but you wouldn't know it - cold, raining and generally miserable! Hopefully I managed to cheer up a few listeners with my choice of music  - including Harry, who was taking a well deserved rest to ward off an incipient lurgy!! This weeks show was a bit on the short but sweet side, only lasting for an hour, but I'll be back next week hosting the whole 2 hours for a change. Oh, and a belated congratulations to The Systemaddicts, who have made it to the Number 1 spot on Three D Radio's Top 20+1 chart with their new CD - and it's not even released yet!

Technicolour Dreaming

Beginning and ending with some woozy psychedelia from the Lucid Dream and Wooden Shjips respectively, this Xmas Eve show continues our rundown of highlights & faves from 2013 and beyond including that great Space Agency single, the new Limiñanas LP, the latest Asteroid #4 opus, new finds such as Sudden Death of Stars, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Mystic Brew and the Dandelion alongside older faves like Mick Ronson, the Human Expression and the D-Coys, plus some cool compilations and reissues such as Psychedelica 5, Down Under Nuggets, the Bee Gees anthology and the Procol Harum & Strawberry Alarm Clock’s reissued 1^st albums. Once again this week the Cat and the Brat played a diverse set, ranging from the modern psych of America’s Andrew Douglas Rothbard, Sweden’s Dungen and Italy’s the Selfish Cales, to the 6o’s UK freakbeat of the Eyes and an early Frank Zappa cover by the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band..... from some iconic Roxy Music to a Mexican revolutionary anthem by Adelaide’s Van Cleef, from an ode to the discotheque by Adelaide’s Mynd Gardeners to Mick Ronson’s brilliant ‘Only After Dark’, and from the Demon Parade to the Church to Ride Into The Sun to God! Ain’t that rock’n’roll religion?! And we ended the show with the surf’n’sleaze of the Barbarellatones, our current “Band Of The Month”, giving their unique spin to a Jan & Dean classic.....
